Lead Developer (Java) – Remote

About the ROLE: 

 

We are seeking an experienced hands-on lead developer to work with a growing onshore/offshore team to troubleshoot, improve and deliver feature enhancements across various projects for our highly successful ecommerce Client. 

This is a hands-on role where you will be expected to provide ongoing technical mentoring and guidance to the team as well as working on assigned tasks to troubleshoot and resolve problems and deliver new features. Additionally you will also work ahead of the team where needed to “unblock” the more technically challenging aspects of a project. 

The role will require a high level of collaboration with the Client team and Elemental’s senior team to ensure the smooth progression and completion of projects whilst also maintaining alignment with project processes, workflows and technical standards as well as alignment with the Clients business objectives. 

You will get to work alongside highly motivated and technically gifted colleagues and interesting Clients with high scalability and / or high performance problems to solve, allowing you to expand your skill-set whilst also imparting your knowledge to the wider team. 

 

 

About YOU

• You will have solid experience building and supporting software products in production and helping to shape solutions to meet the needs of Clients.  

• You will have proven experience taking a senior role as part of a delivery team, guiding the technical delivery of assigned programmes of work. 

• You will have proven experience managing stakeholders (internal and external) as it relates to the technical delivery of projects. 

• You will possess strong business acumen, always keeping the Client’s business objectives and requirements at the heart of the delivery. This will at times require balancing longer term strategic needs with short term project delivery challenges. 

• You will be a problem solver with the ability to brainstorm solutions quickly and effectively. 

• You will lead by example, with a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to deliver your assigned projects. 

• You will posses strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and challenges in a way that is accessible to non technical individuals.

• Additionally, you will be able to work using a Linux shell via an ssh session (to access servers in the data centre).

  • Gradle/Ant 

• You will be fluent in English, both spoken and written. 

• Whilst it is the nature of your experience that will be of most interest to us, we have found that typically someone will have needed 8+ years relevant working experience, at least 2 of which operating at senior level to have the gained the tools, skills and knowledge needed to perform this role.
