Background

Through their Pure Package and BalanceBox websites, the client supplies over 10,000 ready to eat meals per week across the UK on a subscription basis. They have a strong presence  in the sector and recently partnered with Weight Watchers (WW) to deliver tailored meals to fit within the WW programmes. Meals are created by in-house nutritionists and chefs and distributed throughout the UK requiring sophisticated logistics for the smooth running of this 20 year old company.

Our contribution to Pure Package

What We Did

To manage the kitchen, orders and delivery of the meals the client had created a bespoke software platform. With the introduction of the BalanceBox product the need arose to scale their technology and application support. The Client approached EC via a positive referral to consolidate end-to-end architectural design, application development and support under one technology partner.  

Critically the client was unsure whether their tech stack could support the growth aspirations and resulting increase in traffic, order processing, kitchen operations, and marketing functions.

To understand the as-is state of the company EC conducted a due diligence on the existing software and infrastructure proposing a breadth of short, medium and long term recommendations that aligned keenly with the business goals. The new BalanceBox WordPress website needed to be linked to the bespoke platform so that the ordering process could be automated providing a better user experience by enabling clients to log in to their account and make purchases and delivery date changes. Overtime EC have automated back office functions and continually develop features that enhance the website, payment processing, subscription models and marketing.  

 

To assist with marketing, information was being held in a number of databases and a complicated integration with Hubspot was needed to create a single source of truth. EC hold regular strategy sessions to ensure the tech budget is apportioned to efficiently support the business and define a roadmap of features to benefit back office and customers.
