About the role

The role in brief

At Elemental Concept, we recognise the importance of creating close collaboration between our development and operations teams, functions and systems in order to deliver to our customers.

With offices in both London and Singapore, we are building a global IT-Ops team that can best service our delivery teams whilst ensuring consistency of standards across all projects.

We are currently seeking an engineer to join our London team who can contribute to this culture, providing local ITOps support whilst also contributing continuous improvements to our software release cycles, software quality and security.

You will get to work alongside highly motivated and technically gifted colleagues allowing you to expand your skillset whilst also imparting your knowledge to the wider team.

About you

Having completed your studies and gained relevant work experience in your first technology job, you will now be seeking to move into a dynamic environment where you can demonstrate your passion for technology and grow your skills and experience.

You will possess a good working knowledge of Linux, Windows and Mac operating systems and will have demonstrated the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot desktop hardware, desktop applications, account setup and network configuration.

You will resolve network issues, configuring operating systems, printers and scanners. You are required to monitor and maintain computer systems and networks and repair and replace equipment as necessary.

Technical capability

You will have, as part of your skillset:

  • Proficiency in supporting Windows, Linux, OSX
  • Understanding of Networking Concepts such as IP addressing, DNS, Firewalls and Routing
  • Basic understanding of software development in a recent programming language.
  • Ability to perform basic administration on groupware services on platforms such as Office365.
  • Advanced knowledge of desktop software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Basic skills or understanding of cloud orchestration technologies such as ansible.
  • Basic experience or skills in Virtualisation such as Docker, Xen, VMware or similar.
  • Basic experience or skills with cloud providers such as AWS/Google/Digital Ocean etc

In additional you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Proactive, self-motivated and self-disciplined. This is particularly important as line management will be based in Singapore.
  • Keen to learn and able to quickly assimilate information across a wide range of technology concepts.
  • Possess a continuous drive for excellence, challenging status quo and demonstrating a willingness to suggest new solutions, approaches and tools to deliver against our objectives.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate constructively across every function within an organisation.
Nice to have

It would be very beneficial to have the following:

  • Experience providing technical support to Customers, internal or external.
  • A solid understanding of Linux administration / troubleshooting and common server products (such as apache, nginx, mysql mongodb).
  • Experience of application development, be it on personal or commercial projects.
Additional considerations

Training and support on the technologies used at Elemental Concept will be provided. Opportunities for personal development will be available and proactively encouraged be it within IT Ops, Infrastructure and Development.

It will be a requirement of the role to participate in an on-call roster outside of standard business hours. On-call support will typically be 1-week per month (but could be more or less depending on demand) and is undertaken from home.

This role will also involve dealing with customer support requests via email therefore excellent levels of customer service, communication and attention to detail are also required.
